Lunch on the way

We regularly stop over for lunch when travelling by. The service is quick, prices are affordable and food is good. The bonus is a non stop kitchen. We never needed more than 45 minutes which makes this place timewise comparable to fastfoods (unless you are using drive theough), but food is much more better.

Built-in window, small bathroom

We stayed after a family celebration for one night, longer we would not have wanted to stay: the room itself was very simply decorated, the bed okay. But: the window is closed at a hand-width by a wall and the roof of a building in the lower two thirds, only above you could see some sky. Secondly, the bathroom was about 1.5sqm, you kept plugging somewhere. It was inside, so no window, but an exhaust fan that works extremely loud.
The breakfast was okay, but the service staff already made the impression at 9 o'clock that everything was too much for her.
Conclusion: Price performance ratio does not fit.

Food average , ‘waffel’ awfull as was the service

We had dinner with 5 family members. The food AND service were ok. Untill the deserts. The ordered ‘waffel’ on the picture looked as a ‘Belgian waffel’ and we were really looking forward to it. What a dissapointment! It was half the size of what it looked like on the picture. But that wasn’t the worst part: it tasted as if the waffel was baked a week ago and that there was somebody smoking next to it for the whole week. Awfull.
But hey, we decided to inform the waitress about the very poor quality and that we would not eat it, because it was old and tasted bad. To our big surprise she just said: ‘I’ll tell the kitchen.’ After 15 minutes that appeared the only action. No apologies, no solution. Poor service!!!!
So from us: no return

A pleasant stay

Geiselwind is a charming village just off the motorway and the Hotel Stern is in the market place. A lovely old building which is surprisingly large (there is a modern extension at the back) and there was plenty of parking. Our room, although without great character, was comfortable and a good size and looked over a farmyard with its not unpleasant agricultural smells. Very good restaurant which provided an excellent evening meal, and breakfast the next day was satisfactory.

Good rest

Clean basic rooms near A3 so a good choice for a few hours of rest while driving through Germany
Plenty of parking (free)
Wifi works well enough.
Breakfast is not so good but will do the trick.
Be aware check in before 22.00
