Perfect Accommodation and Great Location
We stayed at Hotel Engel in late Feb 2016.
The hotel is a five minute walk from the train and bus station, easy to find and the owner is there to meet you. There is a ski hut at the back of the drive way to place your skis and snowboard.
Inside the hotel, you have the cellar to place your ski boots and there is a small area with a cycling machine if you fancy a little work out on top of a day's skiing!
A great little extra about this hotel is that they have a fridge full of beers and cold soft drinks for you to choose from from as little as €2, you pay at the end of your stay.
This hotel has a friendly and a sense of make your self at home feel.
The room we stayed in which was a double dexule room with a balacony was such a great size.
The balacony was such a great extra with an amazing view of the mountains surrounding Oberstdorf.
The owner Petra couldn't do enough for us, very fast communication leading up to our holiday and friendly when she greeted us and was always on hand throughout our stay.
Hotel Engel is in a great location for the town, with it taken two mins to get to the town centre. There is a great choice of restaurants and pubs to choose from. Everyone is so friendly. The town centre feels very safe. There is a number of ski hire places to also choose from. I would say that they all offer the same price for ski and boot hire.
If you are looking for a great place to ski and in a quiet location for all ski levels then Oberstdorf is the perfect location.

Schönes Zimmer, nette Hotelchefin
Liegt eine Minute neben der Innenstadt, also optimal für fussfaules Volk, an einer ruhigen Seitenstrasse; jedenfalls haben wir nachts nichts gehört trotz offenem Fenster. Frühstück ist ok, auch wenn es kein Rührei oder Spiegelei gab. Dafür aber eine große Auswahl von allem. Insbesondere das Brot und Brötchen gab es in einer riesigen und sehr leckeren Vielfalt. Auch gab es im Keller einen Kühlschrank mit kalten Getränken zum fairen Preis (0,5 = 2€). Auch eine sehr kompetente Beratung zu allen Themen wie Lift, Bus etc.. Zimmereinrichtung und Bad: neu. Hat uns sehr gut gefallen; wenn wir nochmal hierher fahren, dann dorthin

Verdienst seinen Namen
Es waren tolle Tage. Das Hotel ist nur zu empfehlen.
Schon beim Eintreffen wird alles für den Gast getan. Anreise schon mittags möglich. Beim Begrüßen ein Getränk, Anmelden an der Sitzgruppe. Erst einmal ankommen. Rundgang durch das Hotel.
Die Zimmer ist groß und sehr gemütlich.
Das Essen (Frühstück, Mittagessen, Kaffee und Kuchen sowie das Abendessen sind nicht zu überbieten. Einfach klasse.
Der Wellness- und Spabereich riesig und bietet Platz für alle.
Das Personal ist freundlich und immer für einen da und auch die Familie ist präsent und fragt immer nach, ob alles in Ordnung ist.

Alpenländischer Charme mit modernem Design und tolle Wirtin
Nach vielen Jahren Oberstdorf in wechselnden günstigeren Pensionen haben wir uns dieses Jahr das Hotel Engel gegönnt. Auswahlkriterium war die zentrale Lage, das Design der Zimmer, die guten Matratzen (nie wieder Rückenschmerzen im Urlaub) und die guten Bewertungen. Wir waren eine Woche im DZ Standard Plus, und es hat sich gelohnt.
Schon bei unserer sehr frühen Anreise (Sonntag 8 Uhr morgens, wir waren die Nacht durchgefahren) hat Frau Engel sich - neben der Frühstückswirtschaft - Zeit genommen und uns Decken gebracht, so dass wir auf den Sonnenliegen im Garten chillen konnten, während unser Zimmer fertig gemacht wurde. (Eine der zwei Katzen hat sich spontan unter meine Liege gelegt und dort geschlafen, das war echt kuschelig, und so habe ich mich gleich ein bisschen zu Hause gefühlt und bin wohl auch eingeschlafen ;o)).
Die Zimmer und das Haus sind super. So wie man es von Bayern kennt (viel Holz, rustikal, gemütlich, überall Blumenkästen), aber verbunden mit vielen modernen und stylischen Elementen, wie in Design Hotels. Z.B. Treppengeländer aus Stahl, eine Foto-Glastür zum Bad, überall schicke neue Design-Beläge, Natursteinfototapete ... An Elementen findet man überall wieder: Holz, Metall, schwarz-weiß-Bilder (an den Wänden und Prints auf Kissen) und die Corporate Design Farbe grün (Gardinen, Papierkorb, sogar der Wäschekorb des Zimmermädchens, Tischdeckchen, Decken, ...). Auf dem Stöpsel im Waschbecken ist ein Engel drauf (wegen Hotel Engel). Auch wenn man nicht so auf Design abfährt wie wir, erlebt man hier auf jeden Fall, dass sich jemand (mutmaßlich Frau Engel) liebevoll und kreativ Gedanken um sein Hotel macht und da was reinsteckt.
Petra Engel ist eine super nette, unkomplizierte, lustige und schlagfertige Gastwirtin. Wir sind oft spontan, und da ist sie uns immer entgegengekommen (z.B. mehrmals früher Frühstück). Sie hat gute Tipps für Oberstdorf (Restaurants...) und wenn man sich Einrichtungstipps vom Hotel für zu Hause abgucken will, erzählt sie einem auch alles, was man wissen möchte.
Das Zimmer war auch bei Hitze draußen angenehm kühl.
Die Matratzen waren wie erwartet gut, und wir hatten keinerlei Rückenschmerzen o.ä..
Das Frühstück war super. Eine Auswahl an Kölln Müslis, Joghurts, jeden Tag frischer Obstsalat mit Erdbeeren, Himbeeren, ..., versch. Brote und Brötchen, Saft, Wasser, div. Käse und Wurst, Bratheringe, saure Gürkchen (was nach dem einen oder anderen Brauereiabend morgens nicht ganz unwichtig war ... ;o)), Nutella, Marmelade, Honig, und noch tausend Sachen, die wir nicht alle probiert haben. Filterkaffee (Kanne) plus auf Wunsch Capuccino, Latte Macchiato, ...
Im Keller gibt es Getränke zum Selbstkostenpreis sowie einen leeren Kühlschrank zur Nutzung für Gäste.
Die anderen Gäste fanden wir allesamt angenehm, was vielleicht auch am Preisniveau liegt. Keine kleinen/lauten Kinder. Insgesamt Ruhe und Ordnung im Haus (Schuhe draußen / im Keller an und ausziehen, finden wir gut!!).
Zimmer wurden täglich gereinigt, alles gut.
Einziger kleiner Verbesserungswunsch: ein gemütlicher Platz zum Sitzen für abends, wenn man mal im Hotel bleiben möchte. Die Rattanmöbel im Frühstücksraum und auf dem Zimmer werden bei > 1 Std. Sitzen unbequem, und eine Couch oder Lounge-Ecke wäre echt cool!
Ansonsten waren wir rundum zufrieden und empfehlen das Hotel absolut weiter!!

Immer wieder gerne
Sehr schönes, gut gelegenes Hotel in Oberstdorf. Die Zimmer sind hübsch und modern eingerichtet. Das Frühstück ist abwechslungsreich und liebevoll angerichtet. Die herzlichen Gastgeber haben für nahezu jede Frage einen guten Tipp und sind allgemein sehr sehr hilfsbereit.
