Elios Hill is located in Hersonissos, 25 km from the capital of Crete, Heraklio town, 30 km from the picturesque village of Agios Nikolaos and the famous village of Elounda from which you can access the Unesco protected island of Spinalonga.

Not quite 5*
Overall a good week, Elios has a lot of potential but just not quite there yet, whether that is still teething problems or it is priced too low for (what should be) a 5* hotel therefore you get the riff raff. Which then leads me onto other guests from different nationalities whom are so rude, aggressive to staff (witnessed this around the pool) no consideration for other guests staying in the hotel, queue jumpers, mess everywhere. More staff is needed in peak season to help control this and really keep on top of the hygiene. The rooms are clean and modern.
The dining room isn’t big enough for the amount of guests when full and did get so loud and messy. The bins were over flowing in the water park, we didn’t see a life guard the entire time in any pools, or the waterpark.
The alcoholic drink choice at dinner time is wine or beer only, unless you’re at an à la Carte restaurant there are some available spirits. I recommend booking the restaurants asap on arrival as there was no availability but reception did manage to find us a booking. Although we waited an hour for a main course at the Mexican.
The entertainment team were fab. Felt quite sorry for them at times due to rude guests.

Overall, a wonderful holiday
As many of the other visitors have explained there are multiple plus points to this hotel but room for improvement too. On the positives - the hotel facilities are wonderful, great for our young kids (ages 8 and 5) they had the best 10 days! The staff are so kind, hard working and friendly. The kids club/entertainment staff especially were so lovely and went above and beyond to make our kids have the best holiday! The hotel is very clean, a few issues with the showers but otherwise we loved our Junior Suite with 2 bathrooms and a separation between the kids room and ours - perfect!
The pools are great, the water park is amazing for the kids. The food in the buffet is also of great standard; a better quality of wine would have been appreciated though! Also a few more exciting options for the kids to eat, the nuggets for example weren’t edible and were on every menu so there wasn’t any other option!
We have never holidayed as a family at peak season in August so perhaps the main issues we had were down to the hotel being just too busy. More staff overseeing the lunch area (some families left their tables in an awful state). I think there should be life guards in all the pools as it got very loud and busy. A member of staff should also police the amphitheater as people took glasses in and they smashed near small children during the night time shows.
We were astounded by the rudeness of some of the families, resulting in our holiday not being as enjoyable as it could have been. Pushing in the queues, rude to staff, hogging sun beds, taking their children to the adult pool - very entitled behaviour that could have potentially been overseen better by staff? I know this isn’t the hotel’s fault but rules being enforced may have helped. I would definitely recommend the hotel to families with children of a similar age as we had a great holiday. Thank you to the wonderful staff!

Really nice massage
Spa- Joanna did an amazing shoulder and neck massage, it was exactly what I needed during pregnancy. I would highly recommend her!
