Gastronomy in the Land of Food

Excellent location facing Eigo Bay in Ise Shima. The outdoor bath in your room is the best, and you can soak in the bath comfortably with a view of Yingyu Bay. There are multiple lounges, private open-air baths, cruise ships, etc. on the menu, so it is recommended to do some research beforehand. Dinner breakfast is delicious, especially basara rice and fish. If anything, it would have been nice to have onigiri as a late-night snack, since I had the last of the basara rice left. It is an inn that I want to repeat again.

Wonderful japanese experience

This hotel is absolute exzeptionell!! It is immaculate in every way: the staff is super polite, the rooms are superb - there are Yumatas provided for dinner and breakfast and for the use within the hotel so that you don‘t have to break the style wirh western clothing. The food is wonderful.
The minibar is for free and refilled every day. There are two extraordinary lounges where snacks and beverages are available for free all day.
This hotel still is a hidden gem with mainly japanese guests. Absolutly extraordinary!!

安全面で信じられないほど不適切 Unacceptable Safety – Extremely Disappointed

I stayed here for one night at the end of July 2025. During the night, I was stung by a centipede that crawled onto my head while I was asleep. The area became painful and itchy, and it was both a frightening and distressing experience.
What shocked me even more was the hotel’s response. When I raised this with the front desk and the manager, they simply said that this was "normal" in their ryokan.
Is being stung by a centipede in your sleep really something a guest should consider "normal" at a ryokan? This is completely unacceptable for any accommodation — let alone one claiming to be well-known or reputable.
Unfortunately, the rest of the experience was equally underwhelming:
The room was unbearably hot until after dinner.
The dinner had significantly fewer dishes compared to other ryokans in the same area and price range.
To reach some of the onsen baths, I had to cross a public road accessible by cars, which felt awkward and lacked privacy.
All in all, this was the worst ryokan experience I’ve had in Japan — and I’ve stayed at many. I strongly advise thinking twice before booking here, especially if you're expecting the level of service and safety that typically comes with a well-regarded ryokan.

The best hot spring inn for a luxurious and relaxing stay

We stayed at the Tower of the Sky.
The Akari Tower and the Sky Tower are the cheapest standard type rooms.
The rooms themselves seem to be the same size, but the Sky Tower uses more space for the open-air bath, while the Akari Tower seems to have made the open-air bath space smaller and made the room larger.
Even though it was a Sky Tower, the room was spacious and the hot spring was comfortable, so it was a great room.
We had a private room for meals, and the menu was made with plenty of Mie ingredients such as spiny lobster.
The dinner was very satisfying, with good ingredients and a lot of food.
The private bath, called Ten no Kagami, is spacious and luxuriously designed. We went in before dusk, so we could enjoy the view.
The Sazanami Lounge on the beach is amazing.
It's a space where you can stay all day, with the sea nearby and drinks and snacks.
At night, the lights from the neighboring hotel were beautiful and accented the scenery.
In addition to the food and facilities, we were also very satisfied with the hospitality service.
I would like to go again.
I was surprised at the number of high-class inns and hotels in this area.

A beautiful inn nestled in Ago Bay

"Teisho" seems to mean "shore" or "water's edge," and "basara" means "a gorgeously decorated appearance." This inn was a wonderful, "beautifully decorated" inn, located on the shore of the quiet Ago Bay.
The room I stayed in was in the Wind Building in the main building, and was a generous 100m2, with an open-air bath, an indoor bath, and an outdoor resort sofa, making it a very comfortable stay. There is one private bath for a fee and three free ones. Reservations are required, and one can be reserved at check-in and another at 5pm. I took the "Amanokagami" and "Kuyuri Nobiri" baths, and I especially recommend Amanokagami, which has a very open feel. Dinner is served in a private room. You can enjoy creative cuisine while looking out at a small pond where Nishikigoi carp swim. The alcohol seems a little on the pricey side. All the dishes were carefully prepared using seafood and local ingredients, and the Shima-oki products (sashimi) made with a generous amount of sea urchin and the Kumano beef charcoal grilled with figs were impressive. When you leave the meal, you are given boiled eggs, edamame, and inari sushi as a midnight snack. I thought this was a great service. The hotel has a lounge called AOI near the entrance where you can enjoy a variety of drinks, including alcohol, and snacks, and Lounge Sazanami, a little away from the main building by the sea. Both are great facilities for relaxing. The breakfast was nothing special, but both the Japanese and Western dishes were delicious.
This time, I chose this inn because I wanted to spend a day in the resort area of Kashikojima, eating lots of delicious food and drinking at a leisurely pace, and I was very satisfied. I highly recommend this inn for couples and married couples who want to spend some quiet time.
