Not a Luxury Experience
However, this was not the 5-star experience I expected. The hotel would benefit from stronger staff development and leadership training. During my stay, I felt uncomfortable with how aggressively payment was requested, almost as if there was concern that I would leave without paying. That interaction felt unprofessional and out of place for a luxury property.
Another disappointment was the dining experience. An 11% service fee is automatically added to the bill, yet staff still seemed to be soliciting additional tips, which created an awkward situation for guests.
The main pool was also excessively warm. When I brought the issue to the staff’s attention, no action was taken to address it, despite the pool being climate-controlled.
Overall, the property itself has a lot of potential thanks to its beautiful setting and atmosphere, but the service standards and guest experience need improvement before it can truly deliver on its luxury brand promise.
The W Hotel has a beautiful property with a great jungle vibe, and the pool area is visually stunning. These are definitely the highlights of the experience.

Exceptional stay
The resort’s design blends contemporary style and the natural beauty of Punta de Mita. Rooms are beautifully appointed, exceptionally comfortable, and thoughtfully integrated into the surroundings, creating a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere.
Service is a defining strength. Every interaction felt warm, genuine, and professional, with staff consistently going above and beyond to ensure a seamless stay.
Dining was equally impressive. Chevichería became a daily favorite thanks to its excellent cuisine and vibrant setting, while the rest of the food and beverage program—from poolside drinks to restaurant dinners—was consistently outstanding.
Most of all, the people make this property special. Special thanks to Ruben and Carlos at the Front Desk; Marco and Luis at the Living Room; Oscar and Armando at the Wet Deck; Alvaro, Chef Roberto, and Regina at Chevichería; and Belen and Francisco at Venazú. Their hospitality and attention to detail made a lasting impression.
With exceptional design, attentive service, excellent dining, and a remarkable team, W Punta de Mita delivers a top-tier resort experience. We look forward to returning and highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Fairfield Inn at a “w” price point…
Not exactly a Premium experience — not exactly what the Marriott brand promises. I would stay elsewhere, but no Marriott properties are nearby to accommodate a request for transfer. “W” Punta Mita is a disappointment. I wouldn’t consider staying at this property again.

Thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We truly appreciate you highlighting both the friendliness of our team and the areas where your experience felt less seamless than expected.
W Punta de Mita is designed as a spacious, nature-immersed resort, and while many guests enjoy this sense of openness, we understand it can feel challenging—particularly when ease of movement and quick access are a priority. Your perspective is important as it helps us better evaluate how we communicate and support different guest needs throughout the stay.
We also regret to hear that your experience with service coordination and communication did not feel consistent. Providing clear information and timely assistance is something we continuously work to refine across our teams.
We value your comments regarding overall experience and expectations, as they help us better align what we deliver with what guests anticipate from the W brand.
Thank you again for your insights, and we truly hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back in the future for a more seamless stay.
Warm regards,
