Beautiful Fez, welcoming Riad, super special Simon

we stayed three nights in this "Riad". The location is perfect, 200 meters from one of the many doors which lead to the medina, so you can immediately find the way out of the medina... which is of no small importance. Furthermore, leaving the Riad, with navigator in hand you can easily reach one of the "main roads" to reach the famous Blue Door. The structure is beautiful and welcoming, you have breakfast in the center of the courtyard with fresh products of the day and mint tea very good. Our room was spacious and with a super comfortable bed, the only thing that could be improved was perhaps the bathroom, due to the "open" shower, but you adapt and get used to it...
The structure also has a panoramic terrace where you can sip a good tea in company at night. We were lucky enough to meet the owners, they will remain in the memory of our trip.
I feel I should make a separate mention to Simon, the manager of the facility. What can I say, he welcomed us with warmth and maximum availability. He made our stay "perfect" by giving us the opportunity to be calm throughout our stay. A piece of advice for those who choose this structure, rely on Simon for the excursions and for the organization of the tours, he will recommend the best ones.
I conclude with a big thank you Simon, you will remain in our hearts, and thank you Fez because you gave us wonderful emotions.

Not recommended

El.Dar Rbab is a tro boarding house of the Meduna of Fes, near the Bab Guissa gate. A picturesque but very dark place. Very small rooms. With bathroom inside. But very crappy. The "shower" consisted of a hose tap on the floor, between the toilet and the sink. We couldn't shower in three days. Impossible without wetting the whole room with our toiletries included.
In addition the bathroom painted black, with shaved walls, and a dead light, which was hardly seen.
The bedrooms are on three levels. Ground floor (we rejected it because it looked like a cell) another three on the first floor and another one on the second or terrace. Very narrow and steep stairs.
Breakfast was made at 10 am.
Not bad though, it was too late.
The surrounding streets are dark and full of garbage.

Totally overpriced and not worth the money

We were given a room in an annex. It smelled musty and the bathroom was dirty. The floor was full of hair and the shower was covered in limescale. When we complained, we had to pay extra for a different room. The food was completely overpriced and the reviews are definitely not all real!!! I would never come here again voluntarily!

Experience a real home in the heart of Fes

We felt so lucky to stay for a night in this beautiful home. We enjoyed mint tea and then sat on the rooftop at sunset to listen to the call to prayer and watch the city end the day, and we had an excellent meal prepared by Mohamed and his wife. The wifi worked well, everything was very clean, the AC kept us cool overnight on the hottest days of July, and it was impressive how cool the courtyard stayed despite 110 degree temperatures outside.
If you stay here, remember you are staying somewhere historic and well-preserved. It won't be identical to all the comforts of a chain hotel, but it will be a beautiful, peaceful, and quiet experience. Like everywhere in the medina, it is a bit hard to find, so make sure you pay attention to the directions before arriving, and don't be afraid to hire a porter to help get your luggage there. Also, be aware there are staircases to get to the bedroom and the rooftop. If you don't mind the stairs, you will be able to enjoy the beautiful views inside and out.
It felt wonderful to stay here, both for the ambiance and for the kindness of the host. I highly recommend it!
