A most charming, top-quality guesthouse

Haus Mopane B&B is a top-quality guesthouse located in a quiet part of Tsumeb. The guesthouse is family built, owned & managed and offers 6 rooms. The tastefully furnished and decorated B&B provide a pleasant atmosphere. Nice garden and complimentary parking at the property. The lady-owner is very friendly & helpful. We had a genuinely nice room with a good king-size bed. All windows and doors have mosquito screens. The room had desk & chair, wardrobe & 2 folding easy-chairs, and terrace with table & chairs, fridge & airco, tea & coffee facility. The separate bathroom had washbasin, shower, and toilet. All was super clean. Between 07:00 and 09:00 a good breakfast is served: eggs made to order, bread & toast, cereals, cold cuts & cheese, orange juice & fresh fruit salad, 2 yoghurts, tea & coffee. Haus Mopane is a charming & well-maintained guesthouse, and we had an enjoyable stay. Highly recommended.

QUALITY ACCOMMODATION, ALMOST BOUTIQUE, AND WELL MAINTAINED.

This accommodation is on a quiet (sandy) street and only 7 minutes (by car) from the village centre. It has parking and several adjoining rooms (all on the ground floor) with tables and good private terrace deck chairs in front of each room (large windows of good bill, which, in our case, overlooked a wall without views). Nice and well kept garden. Everything oozes quality and good taste. The room was of sufficient size (though not huge) with a large bed (well mattress and sheets), tables, wardrobe, desk, chair and fridge (without freezer). Nice decor and friendly staff. The bathroom of acceptable size, with sink and furniture, new toilet and a good shower with screen (well water and towels), all of good standard. But what was spectacular was the breakfast room (common dining room), with an open kitchen and good wooden tables and chairs (they could be put together to make a large and unique table for, say, dinners), a glass wall to the garden (totally retractable), an almost exquisite decoration and where we had a very full breakfast the next day. Wifi good. The issue of parking was not well regulated in our case. When we entered, instead of allowing us to leave the car near our room even if there was free space (if we were allowed 5 minutes to download it), we were sent to the other end of the estate. In the afternoon, when we returned from the village, we had nowhere to leave the car (it was all occupied, although we were not so many guests) and the owner, kindly removed hers to leave us hollow, but always away from the room so, when we left the accommodation the next day, we had to drag the luggage (2 suitcases and several bags) along a complicated floor, back to the other end of the accommodation. The sleep was not very good, because in the surroundings there were dogs that barked almost all night. I don't remember air conditioning, microwave or TV. Recommended.

Nightmare

Worst accommodation experience of my life. Nasty and rude staff. When we arrived, I asked where the washing machine was, as it was the reason we chose this accommodation. The hostess tells me it's a fee and I tell her I'm going to check the Reservation because I would swear it wasn't, but I could be wrong. Indeed, the double room had a washing machine. I go back to the front desk and the hostess is gone. I speak to a lady on the staff and show her the Reservation. He replies that the free washing machine is for the staff themselves and for guests who are more than two weeks, which a priori does not sound very usual... It was very hot, about 39 degrees, and we left the air conditioning on to go to dinner because we died in that temperature and when we returned we wanted to rest. When we got back from dinner, they had come into our room and turned it off. We didn't give credit that they were able to violate our privacy to spare the air conditioning. Mind-blowing... and excruciating heat... there's a fridge in the room, but it's unplugged, so it takes time to cool. Also, our fridge made a very annoying noise and at night we had to turn it off because we heard it even with stoppers. Between the terrible stay we were having and the sinking mattress, we had a very bad night. Fortunately, we stayed only one night. The next day, the hostess sends us a message through Booking telling us that she will charge us 200 NAD because we have thrown away all the coffee, tea and soap. I explain that we have used it and that you cannot charge us anything because it was included, just as she said when entering the room. Conversation with this person no longer makes sense because their next messages are completely irrational. Looks like we stole a masterpiece instead of consuming something she offered herself. This is the first time I have to ask Booking customer service to intervene due to harassment and threats. I do not wish anyone this experience because it is not worth this discomfort while on vacation.

Person in bad faith

We arrived in the late afternoon my wife and I. The owner, a blonde in her 35s, in my opinion found an excuse not to give us the room booked, so she accompanied us to another structure, well below the quality standard we had booked. We didn't make such a fuss since we were only staying one night. But the manner of doing so seemed to me somewhat questionable. When she realized that the place was not to our liking, she left us there and left. The beauty is that on booking, where we had booked, he wrote that we did not show up..... and this suggests that it was not in good faith.
So I suggest looking rather for another place to stay in Tsumeb, it is not reliable.
