By far the worst hotel experience we’ve ever had.
To begin with, we barely had a good night’s sleep because the walls were thin, and we could constantly hear loud noises coming from outside our room, we can let the power interruption slide. But what made the experience even worse was being accused of breaking a wall mirror that was already damaged before we even checked in and demanded that we pay them.
The crack (a tiny line) clearly looked old, and there was already dust settled around them. They assumed that I caused the damage simply because my pressed powder accidentally fell on the floor and left some residue. However, there were absolutely no powder residues on the mirror itself. If we had supposedly caused the damage and then cleaned it, why was there still dust on the mirror?
What was most upsetting was the unprofessional and inappropriate response from the front desk officer, who asked why we did not thoroughly inspect the room for damages before settling in and that we SHOULD have checked for possible damages as if it’s our obligation!
Seriously? Is it really the guest’s responsibility to inspect every corner, piece of furniture, and fixture in a hotel room before settling?
Travelers are often tired after a long day and simply expect to return to their room to relax and get some rest. Guests should NOT be expected to DO a detailed inspection of the room just to protect themselves from being blamed for pre-existing damage. If the hotel has a proper housekeeping and room inspection procedure, then these issues should have been identified and documented before the next guest checked in.
We were also told that the housekeeper had checked, cleaned, and prepared everything in the room before our arrival. Unfortunately, the condition of the room made that claim very difficult to believe. The shower gels were empty, the furniture was dusty, and even the mirror had visible dust on it. This left us with the impression that proper attention was not given to the cleanliness and preparation of the room, and the comfort and experience of your guests were not given the importance they deserve.
The biggest issue here is not just the damaged mirror. It is the lack of accountability, professionalism, and proper customer service in how the situation was handled. Instead of listening to the guest and properly investigating the condition of the room, we were immediately made to feel as though we were responsible for something that was already there. We wouldn’t mind paying if we actually caused it, but accusing and acting as if we’re the ones was so UNFAIR, DISRESPECTFUL AND DISAPPOINTING.
We came to Cebu hoping to have a memorable vacation with our family, but instead, this experience completely ruined what should have been a relaxing and enjoyable stay. A family trip is something we look forward to, and it is incredibly disappointing when a hotel experience becomes one of the things we remember most for all the wrong reasons.
We expected a comfortable, hassle-free place to rest. Unfortunately, our experience with Primeway Hotel was the complete opposite.
We hope management takes this feedback seriously and reviews their housekeeping inspection procedures and staff’s approach to handling complaints. Guests should never be made to feel accused or responsible for pre-existing problems in a room.
