My ETA was well past the last check in, but a member of staff was kind enough to stay behind.
The dorm had 4 bunkbeds, an AC unit and a fan. The AC and fan worked well. Each guest was given a towel and a locker big enough to hold a large backpack. The bed had an Asian style firm mattress and a thin sheet, a private light, 2 sockets and a small shelf.
Common areas include a kitchen area, dining/working area with breakfast tables and high chairs, and another lounge area by the reception. There's no AC in the common areas, although the areas were open with nettings to restrict insects, so at least there was air circulating. I never got bitten while in the common area. There are several toilet/bathrooms. These were always clean whenever I used them. The water pressure is okay, good enough and works. There's not much ventilation in the shower rooms though.
There is Wifi throughout the property and it works well.
Location wise, the hostel is roughly between the airport and town. it's about 15 minutes walk to the port and 20 to the centre of Dumaguete. There is a convenience store close by and several restaurants too. At night, the area is quiet, but you can hear the traffic in the morning.
The hostel employ staff who are hard of hearing, so kudos for that. The communication can be slower, but please be kind and patient. The staff work hard cleaning several times a day.
Overall, I had an excellent stay. The hostel and facilities are basic, but clean and comfortable.

It's a hostel in the historic house. I met some new friends in there. Very good during that three nights

Location is good but lots of better accomodation nearby

I'm curious how everyone is so happy about their stay. Never met the owner for my 2 nights stay. The place is run by deaf staff. The vibe isn't social at all.
The blanket is too thin, toilet door have broken lock, and toilet water pressure is weak.

Apologies for the delayed response as I do not get notified of Tripadvisor reviews and I had just gotten my access back. Just saw your review today. I am sorry we did not live up to your expectations. I do realize that most of the reviews on this platform mention me by name, but I hope my presence was not expected. I do pop in a few days each week, but because my team is fully capable of running the hostel, I am confident that I am no longer needed. My entire staff (deaf and hearing) are amazing and are chatty if you take the chance to communicate with them. You can also ask them for sign language lessons. You will find more and more businesses in the area employ deaf staff and as someone with a deaf family member, I love that businesses in our city are able to give opportunities to the differently abled.
I am thankful for your feedback and would like to address these as well. We do have the option for thicker blankets for a fee. This needs to be requested from the staff. Given the tropical climate, this is the kind of blanket we actually grew up using. The bathroom you mentioned has a functional slide lock. I now make sure the guests are made aware of this. If someone is not comfortable with this, there are bathrooms at the back of the hostel with the traditional door lock. Water pressure is weak in the area, but our water utility provider is doing their best to provide stable water throughout the entire city.
Again, I appreciate your feedback. Thank you for taking the time to share them with us.

Dorm/hostel with warmth and comfort of home

Stayed here for a night but it felt like home with the convenience of a hostel. Greeted by the host who gave a quick tour of the place and escorted me to my room. She even shared her number so I can reach out directly to her should I need anything. She even opened the gate in the wee hours of day because she knew I was leaving that early.
Bed was comfortable clean (even covered by plastic to prevent dust etc). My space had hostel usuals of outlet, lamp, a small shelf to put stuff on.
Its mess hall felt like a true home kitchen too as you're free to use their cups as long as you clean them after.
Location-wise, it's in a quiet street but close enough (within walking distance or quick tricycle ride) to the port and restaurants.
