Ecletico hotel, clean, comfortable and convenient

Ecletico was a small boutique hotel, 5 minutes away from old town Bucharest. Our room was clean, comfortable, the breakfast was good and Cosmih at reception was very helpful. We'd recommend this small hotel to friends for a city break.

I stayed at Ecletico Villa and unfortunately had a very disappointing experience overall.

Before my arrival, I requested a quiet room on a higher floor. However, I was placed in a basement room, which they referred to as a “cellar room”, but in reality it had no proper windows and was extremely cold and uncomfortable.
During my stay, I informed the reception that the room was too cold. Initially, they told me that they were unable to activate the heating and only provided an extra blanket, which slightly improved the situation but was not enough. The heating was only turned on after a second complaint.
I barely slept during the first two nights due to the extreme cold in the room, which made the stay very uncomfortable.
In addition, at around 11:30 PM, other hotel guests attempted to enter my room using a code, even after I clearly told them that it was not my room. This was very unsettling and created a strong feeling of insecurity, especially as a woman traveling alone in a foreign country. It was both confusing and distressing to experience this situation.
The room also had a “window” facing the street, but it had a blackout curtain that still let light pass through, meaning the room became bright early in the morning, which further affected sleep quality.
The breakfast was only average and not good enough for a hotel presented as a 4-star property and associated with Michelin recommendations. It was acceptable, but nothing more than that.
I understand that not all guest requests can always be accommodated, but at a minimum a room should be comfortable. If a room is advertised as having heating, it should actually be possible to turn it on and ensure a warm environment for guests.
Overall, despite the staff being polite, the experience did not meet basic comfort expectations. The combination of a cold basement room, poor sleep conditions, delayed heating activation, and the security incident made the stay very disappointing.
I am giving 2 stars only because other reviews were positive and it is possible that other rooms are better than mine.

Dear Camila,
Thank you for your feedback and for sharing your experience with us.
We’re sorry to hear your stay didn’t fully meet your expectations, but we appreciate the opportunity to clarify a few things. The room is part of our wine cellar concept, which many of our guests really enjoy, and it was created and refined based on guest feedback to offer a unique and memorable stay.
Regarding the temperature, heating was switched off due to the warmer weather outside, and the air conditioning was activated instead, as the two systems cannot run simultaneously. We always adjust settings according to weather conditions and guest preferences, and we’re sorry this timing didn’t feel ideal during your stay.
For security, each guest receives a unique access code to their room, ensuring individual and secure entry. It’s possible there was a misunderstanding in the situation you mentioned, but we will still look into it carefully.
We truly appreciate your comments and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you again for a more comfortable experience.
Best wishes!

Eclectico Villa in Bucharest is a true boutique gem. From the moment you arrive, there is a distinct sense of intimacy and character that larger hotels simply cannot replicate.
The rooms are beautifully designed, with thoughtful details and a refined aesthetic that feels both personal and elevated. There is a genuine boutique atmosphere throughout the property, creating a stay that feels curated rather than standardized.
Breakfast deserves special mention. It was fantastic, fresh, and clearly prepared with care. The quality stood out, and it felt generous without being excessive. The staff were equally impressive. Warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming, they contributed greatly to the overall experience.
The location is another strength. It is within comfortable walking distance to many key areas, making it easy to explore the city on foot.
The only minor drawback was that the rooms are somewhat sound sensitive, and you may hear movement or noise from nearby spaces. That said, it did not significantly impact our stay.
Overall, Eclectico Villa delivers a five star boutique feeling in terms of atmosphere, design, and hospitality. A charming and memorable place to stay in Bucharest.

Best in Bucharest

Great location (central yet quiet even though our room faced the street (#4)), tasteful interior and room design, mega clean, very friendly and helpful staff. We felt so welcomed and well looked after. Our room was warm and the water piping hot (end November). Breakfast for all tastes and plentiful. Bed super comfy. Highly recommended. So many nice touch extras, making it feel even more comfortable.

If, like me, you’re always looking for a centrally located hotel that’s in a quiet area, moderately priced and includes breakfast then I can save you some time and searching….. you’ve found it! My room was on the 3rd floor and incredibly quiet, even though I was there over the weekend and within walking distance of Lipscani (old town). The room was a good size, clean and well equipped, and they even give you free wine and cake on arrival. Louisa on the front desk was very friendly and helpful (particularly when I managed to lock all my valuables in the safe without resetting it properly) and I just wish I could pick the place up and take it around the world with me. Highly recommended!!
