Good price quality ratio for a budget accommodation in central Barcelona

We recently stayed for three nights at Hostal Lima and were pleasantly surprised, especially considering the abundance of negative reviews.
While the older man at the reception came across as a bit grumpy, the teenager was friendly and helpful.
The room size was adequate, but changing and getting in and out of the shower was a bit awkward due to the small bathroom. We also noticed black mold between the tiles in the shower.
There was no fridge in the room, but we were able to use a communal fridge.
The air conditioning worked well. We even had to turn it off in the night because it got too cold.
The walls are a bit thin, so we occasionally heard people talking in the hallway, though not from inside their rooms. The only sound coming from the adjacent room was of the shower. In the evening it was quiet.
The location of Hostal Lima is excellent, just a 2-minute walk from Plaça de Catalunya and La Rambla. Located next to the Urquinaona metro station, most tourist destinations are at most ten minutes away.
I don't think the other reviewers kept in mind this relatively low price for a (budget) accommodation in central Barcelona, since the price quality ratio is good.

I wouldn't repeat

Our stay at Hostal Lima has been disappointing. On arrival there was some waiting to give us the room; it was not excessive, but when going in a hurry it was uncomfortable.
The worst happened in the morning: before 8:00 the staff began to make a lot of noise cleaning the next rooms, even using the vacuum cleaner, which made it impossible to rest. In addition, they entered the room while we were asleep, something totally unacceptable and very unpleasant.
On the other hand, the pillow, to say the least, is very uncomfortable.
As positive points, the parking is great and the cleanliness of the room was correct.
Even so, the overall experience has been negative and we leave very unhappy. We would not recommend it.

Never again...

It sucks, I advise against it!
Unbalanced, dirty, all they have.
I would not recommend it to anyone, they are not accommodating at all, the suitcases leave them in the hallway...

Claustrophobic

A few steps from Plaza Catalunya and La Rambla, bus and metro stops very close. Area well served by shops, supermarkets and bars.
Upon our arrival, we found three welcome bottles of water. Nothing to complain about the cleanliness of the rooms, the bathroom, the towels and sheets. However, the impression is not the best, both at the beginning and during.
This hostal is really very old, with homeless people standing in front of the door. You walk up a small flight of ancient stairs and then take the lift to the second floor. Tiny rooms, old, small and uncomfortable mattresses, tiny, very old bathroom, with only a bottle of liquid soap, very thin walls, you can hear the other guests nearby. Old smell everywhere.
If you stay for one night and don't stay in the room for long... then ok. But anyway I haven't even seen all this convenience, Barcelona is really expensive.
Another positive note: there were agreements on private car parks not really close but well connected. Ask for the voucher at reception, it will cost €12 per day!

good price in the center of the city

Modest hotel in the center of Barcelona, 20 meters from the Plaza Catalunya. It is a second floor of an old building.
Free WIFI. My room was large with sink and wc, and a kind of room / terrace very cool.
Improvable heating and good price: € 45 / night.
Comfortable bed, tv with local channels.

Excellent location
