Amazing staff and squeaky clean, but noisy as hell
The staff
The staff was amazing - especially the lady at the reception and the people in the restaurant.
The receptionist sent me their contact info, so I was able to call, when I arrived at the bus stop. She sorted out the taxi multiple times, and helped with lots of advice during my stay.
The lady in the restaurant and the waiter who spoke English, they were very attentive, and made sure I got what needed, even when they were stressed out.
The room
The room was squeaky clean, there was one table and a chair, TV and a wardrobe. One wall-plug and it was in the bathroom. Eventually the last day I found one behind the night stand, which should probably be put on the other side. There was a balcony on which the sun shone in the morning, and noon, and a little in the evening. They had managed to squeeze a bathtub, and a bidet in the tiny bathroom. Toiletries were available.
Location
How to get there from Santander? There are those buses called Palomera, and they stopped at platform 8 at the bus station. It takes about 45 minutes to get there. You can ask the driver to point out before you reach Ajo, although the signs are pretty obvious. There are a lot of sharp turns before your reach Ajo. When you get off the Palomera bus, you can take to the right, past the ruins of the church and walk along the pavement, until you reach the next old building at the end of the road, which is also the main street. From then you just follow the road downwards. When you reach a busy road, turn to the left.
The beach is about a 100 meters away.
The restaurant opens at 0800, so it is when you get coffee at the earliest, vegans can also find some food like mixed salad, and the staff can make adjustments by omitting ingredients. They have a variety of french fries, which they prepare really well!
Things to improve/ Weird stuff
The worst thing about this hotel is noise, and during the first hour of my stay I realized that this hotel was terribly overrated. There was noise during the day, noise during the night, noise indoors, noise outdoors.
My room - 111, was supposed to be quiet. But I had a terrible headache already on day 2 of my stay.
My balcony faced a busy road - you have cars, motorcycles, screaming kids, villagers talking - understand "screaming at the top of their lungs".
On the left side I had the stairs, made of marble, and these wonderful acoustics, which was very well utilized by unattended kids, jumping and screaming at their inattentive parents, or adults just running up and down.
On the right hand side, there was a double room, with two adults screaming at each other either in the room or on the balcony.
In front of my door, people were screaming, discussing, rolling luggages, kids wailing.
Below there was the reception and the entrance of the cafe and the lobby of the hotel.
Above me another double room where the usual communication was carried out again by means of screaming too.
It seemed I had arrived at a place where everyone had a terrible hearing impediment!
Furniture was dragged back and forth in the rooms, on the balconies, in the cafe, in the lobby. There were a couple of times people screamed until almost 1 am in the morning, after that it would get quiet, and I would be "Yes, I would finally get some sleep". But no, it was only until a certain hour, when a bugger decided to press the doorbell at 5 am, multiple times, like last Thursday. However, on Saturday the buzzer went at 2.30 am!
I did ask for change of rooms, but I got a resounding "no".
Another thing - people would slam doors so loudly and violently, the whole building would shudder. I wonder, maybe the owner will have to change them soon.
