Beautiful spot in the varied landscape

Fantastic just! The location, the food, the kaners, the friendliness and the surrounding buildings and facilities. Very nice on the water

Very poor first impression

Myself & a friend arrived for lunch today, we had not booked it was a last minute decision. We went through to reception and asked if we were able to have lunch in the garden, the receptionist looked me up and down and said ‘we only serve full lunches we don’t serve snacks’ clearly wearing white linen shorts & black & white top screams I only eat snacks not real food! We said that was fine as it was what we required, she pointed to the door and said take a seat outside someone will come to you, & went back to looking at her all important computer.
Luckily I live in Wareham & have been to The Priory a number of times but I have never been treated in such a rude & dismissive manner by any member of staff there, had I been a visitor I would have left and gone elsewhere for lunch. If this is the standards that is now acceptable at The Priory in their 50th year it will be a while before I visit again.
As a foot note, the rest of the staff were lovely albeit very busy, and the food was gorgeous as always.

Fabulous escape

Due to undergoing house renovations we decided to escape the chaos and what an escape! The staff were courteous and efficient - and very friendly (particularly AJ). Will definitely visit again

Perfection great food service and ambiance 10/10

What a Fabulous restaurant ,we had Sunday lunch with beautiful views on a hot sunny day ,a cool airy restaurant with chilled white wine and a peaceful ambiance even though busy
I must mention the fantastic service by all the staff and in particular Ajay as usual ,no waiting around to order , he makes you feel at home ,remembers what you like from your favourite table to the wine and our food
He Really makes this fantastic restaurant worth a visit ,hopefully you get to meet him on your visit it makes all the difference
Taramisu desert was heavenly
We then had coffee out on the terrace
To finish off a lovely meal
Can highly recommend

Afternoon Tea Jun 2026

We were fortunate enough to enjoy a beautiful warm sunny day for afternoon tea the setting was wonderful.
They were prompt getting the drinks and bring the afternoon tea out. There were 3of us and we asked one of the staff if we wanted a few more sandwiches do we pay for this (as the selection wasn't equal and we thought we might enjoy a couple more) . She informed us yes you pay for extra (absolutely fine) but unfortunately the chef wasn't there so no more could be made.
As we tucked into the sandwiches we noticed the bread was slightly dry on the ends (so not necessarily fresh) but fillings were still nice, although the filling selection was quite random so some sandwiches we split into 3 so could taste different fillings. The scones were lovely (again as someone else had commented would be lovely a little warm - thats being fussy). By time got to our scones could have done with another drink but staff didn't come back over so had to grab a member of staff to get some extra water . At the end when we asked for the bill they asked us to head to reception to pay. Would have been lovely to pay at the table but maybe its todo with internet coverage.
Having pointed out the above like i said setting is wonderful and we were very lucky with the weather.
Overall from previous experiences elsewhere just felt staff could been little more attentive and the food itself a little fresher because afternoon tea is always a decent price.
