Who are flight crew or flight attendants?
Members employed by the airline to make sure passengers are safe and comfortable in commercial or private or in a few cases military flights are called flight attendants. They are also known as air hosts and hostesses, stewards and stewardesses, cabin attendants or cabin crew. Most believe they are just glamorous waitresses, but that is not true.
They are flight experts who learn everything about the aircraft they are on, memorise seating charts as well as keep a track of safety measures in the cabin. Moreover, if your flight is in trouble their first action is to do everything to get you to safety.
The flight crew is taught to tackle a variety of crisis and offer first aid. More common situations comprise of a nose hemorrhage, illness, minor injuries, drunk passengers, hostile and nervous passengers. Crisis management training consists of forbidden takeoffs, emergency landings, smoke in the cabin, cardiac and midair health issues, fires, depressurisation, births, and deaths on-board, dangerous cargo and spills in the cabin, emergency clearing, skyjackings, and water landings.

Read on for Skyscanner’s flight crew do’s and don’ts, which will help you to sail through your flight with poise and pleasure.
Behaviours That Irritate Flight Attendants (Don’ts)
1. Asking for water as soon as you are onboard If you like to stay hydrated or feel thirsty by the time you get onboard, then it is best to get a big bottle of water at the gate. The flight crew has a lot to do before takeoff. Offering water as soon as you take your seat may not be a top priority for the crew.
2. Big hand luggageYou are permitted to carry one bag with you as cabin luggage. Of course, you can ask the crew for help, but expecting it is a big No-No. Please use the space above your seat to stow your luggage and not in the space of an empty seat before or behind you. Ensure that you do not take up two spots in the overhead space for your cabin bag and your personal items.

3. Asking for a seat change Unless the flight is practically empty, requesting another passenger to exchange seats with you like you can do in a long-distance train is not easy. Doing so would delay the person behind from reaching his or her seat causing a delay in boarding and thereby a delay in take-off. So, refrain from asking the flight attendant for a seat change.
4. Not wearing the seat beltsSeatbelts on-flight are meant to guard against sudden jerks and getting hurt while take-off and in a few cases during turbulence. If you don’t wear seatbelts, those seated beside you are also in danger along with you. What happens if you are thrown over while descending?
5. Asking for an upgradeThe airlines automatically upgrade you if you are eligible for it, however asking for one when you are onboard is a strict no.
6. Demanding for a snack/meal that’s not available Most economic airlines today do not offer a snack or meal onboard unless you have opted for it while purchasing a ticket. Demanding for a free snack from the flight crew will not help as the food is limited and meant for a passenger who requested for it.
7. Drunk behaviour Getting drunk on-board, abusing, getting violent are frowned upon and the flight attendant is most likely to restrain you from causing further issues. In a few cases, you may be de-planed, reported to the authorities and even added to the no-fly list.
Behaviors That Please Flight Attendants (Do’s)
1. Carry light luggage on-board2. Be polite and courteous3. Wait for your turn4. Follow the rules5. Maintain bathroom hygiene6. Carry your earphones or headphones if you plan to watch a movie or listen to music.
