Odessais the third largest city in Ukraine. The city is a major seaport and transportation hub located on the northwestern shore of the Black Sea.
Climate: Odessahas a warm temperate climate. The temperatures in the city range from an average of 6 °C between January- March and can go as high as 23 °C in August. The city has dry, mild winters with temperatures which rarely fall below −3 degrees Celsius. Summers have an increased level of precipitation, and the city often basks in warm weather with temperatures often reaching into the high 20s and mid-30s
Food: Odessa is famous for its cuisine which is multinational because of the influence of many world cuisines. Do try the mouth-watering dishes in the city like the seafood, delicious buffalo chicken wings, different types of beer, apple-pie, ripe pineapples and fragrant melons. Don’t forget to taste the sweet strawberries, local wines, fresh lobsters and oysters, pork ribs, Odessa mackerel, many kinds of dumplings, borsch with pampushki and garlic.
Culture: Ukrainians make up a majority- about 62 percent of the city, and the ethnic Russian minority makes up the remaining 29 percent. Culture buffs can enjoy the Odessa Museum of Western and Eastern Art- it has large European collections from the 16–20th centuries along with the art from the East. There are paintings from Mignard, Hals, Teniers and Del Piombo. Another notable landmark is the city's Alexander Pushkin Museum.Also, enjoy the city's public sculptures, two sets of Medici lion at the Vorontsov Palace and the Starosinnyi Garden.
History and Architecture: Before Odessa, there was a small Tatar settlement founded by Hacı I Giray, the Khan of Crimea, in 1440. It was named after him as Hacıbey. After a period of Lithuanian control, it passed into the domain of the Ottoman Sultan in 1529 and remained till their defeat in the Russo-Turkish War of 1792. Odessa was founded in 1794 by a decree of the Empress Catherine the Great. Many of Odessa's buildings have been influenced by the Mediterranean style of classical architecture. This is noticeable in buildings built by architects such as Francesco Boffo, who built a palace and colonnade for the Governor of Odessa, Prince Mikhail Vorontsov, the Potocki Palace and many other public buildings in early 19th-century.
Shopping: Deribasivska Street is one of the city's most important commercial streets, with a large number of the boutiques and high-end shops. There are also a number of large commercial shopping centers in the city. The 19th-century shopping gallery Passage was the city's most upscale shopping district, and is still an important landmark of the city.
Sightseeing in Odessa: Visit the city's famous Arkadia beach, the Vorontsov Lighthouse in the Gulf of Odessa, the Primorsky Bulvar, the Potemkin Stairs, statue of Catherine the Great, the Londonskaya Hotel and the City Garden or Gorodskoy Sad.

The city's public transit system is currently made up of trams, trolleybuses, buses and fixed-route taxis (marshrutkas). Odessa also has a cable car and recreational ferry service.
