Your first stop at Udaipur should definitely be the City Palace on the east bank of Lake Pichola, where a massive series of palaces were built at different times. Go up onto the balconies of the palace, Rajasthan’s largest palace, for panoramic views of the Jag Niwas (Lake Palace Hotel).

Visit the Jagdish Temple, a large Hindu temple in the middle of Udaipur, which is a great example of Indo-Aryan Architecture and a main attraction of the city. Little stalls near the temple selling trinkets and souvenirs are also worth a visit! Take a leisurely boat ride on one of the magnificent lakes of Udaipur and watch the sun set behind the horizon. Lakes worth visiting include Fateh Sagar Lake and Lake Pichola. Fateh Sagar Lake also hosts the only solar observatory in Asia, Udaipur Solar Observatory, on the island in the middle of the lake. It is ringed by hills and is a popular local hangout.
