Discover Kuala Lumpur International

Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) has been a people’s favourite for a number of years. Located in Peninsular Malaysia, KLIA is roughly 50km from Kuala Lumpur.

Before eco-consciousness became popular, KLIA had already begun championing the cause by promoting greenery. KLIA boldly incorporated its 'Airport in the Forest, Forest in the Airport' concept by moving a portion of the rainforest to the Satellite Building in the airport.

KLIA serves domestic flights and international flights to many destinations. It is constantly ranked one of the world’s busiest airports. There are shops, restaurants and other facilities located all around the airport. In order to enhance not only travel experience but ease connectivity problems between full service and low-cost carriers, KLIA2 was introduced as a mega terminal that serves different kinds of carriers.

How to Get Around

Commuting to the city is quick via the rail line system. KLIA Ekspress brings you to the city in just 28 minutes. With comfortable chairs, entertainment and wheelchair-friendly aids and facilities, this is a relaxing way to get into the city. KLIA Transit is another option which serves 3 stops at intermediate stations. Alternatively, buses and express coaches offer direct road transport to various destinations. A range of taxi services are also available. You could also rent a car to drive yourself to the city.

What to do and see

Some of the must-see attractions in Kuala Lumpur are Petronas Twin Towers, the Batu caves, Merdeka Square and the Bintang walk. The Twin Towers is possibly the most-photographed attraction in Malaysia. Buy a ticket to the observation deck or walk from one tower to the other by using the world’s highest double-decked sky bridge.

The Batu Caves is a well-known Hindu temple and shrine that can be reached by train or bus from KL Central. Walk up 272 steps to get into the main cave. Watch out for the cheeky monkeys on the way up. Families will want to visit the KL Bird Park and Butterfly Park for a relaxing time. If you only have a few hours to spare, the Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery has six galleries including a children’s gallery that will keep you engrossed. Guided tours are available for groups of 20 or more.

Shopaholics will be pleased to know that Kuala Lumpur has been ranked the world’s fourth best shopping city by CNNGo. Shop for local and international brands at any of the city’s nine signature malls. You might also want to visit the National Textiles Museum for an insight into the type of clothing worn by the various communities in Malaysia such as the Baba Nyonyas as well as the ethnic communities of Sabah and Sarawak.
