New York Newark Liberty International Airport
Built on an area of 2,027 acres of land Newark Liberty International Airport or Newark International Airport is located around 24 km (15 miles) towards southwest of Midtown Manhattan. Serving New York metropolitan area, the airport is under the operation of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and was the first prime airport in the US.
The airport resides at an elevation of 18 ft above mean sea level and is featured with three runways and a helipad. In the year 2013, it recorded handling of 35,016,236 passengers and a total of 413,744 aircraft operations. It serves as the third-largest base for United Airlines and is the major hub for FedEX Express and Kalitta Air which are cargo carriers.
Terminals -Newark Liberty International Airport consists of three passenger terminals – Terminal A, Terminal B and Terminal C. Terminal A is further divided in A1, A2 and A3 and comprises of a total of 27 gates and is mainly used for domestic routes along with some international flights. The newly renovated Terminal 2 has 15 gates and majorly handles international flights. With 59 gates, Terminal C serves both domestic and international flights and is the hub for United Airlines.
