Guwahati airport, which is also referred to as Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport is located at Borjhar, around 29 km from the city of Guwahati, Assam. It was earlier known as Borjhar Airport. Named after Gopinath Bordoloi, who was a freedom fighter & the first Chief Minister of Assam after independence, it is the main international airport of North-eastern states of India.

The airport covers an area of 627.482 acres. Managed and operated by the Airport Authority of India, Guwahati airport is the major hub for flights to North-eastern states of India, with a capacity of handling more than 10 lakh passengers per year. For travelers, bus services are available from Guwahati airport to the city of Guwahati. Assam State Transportation Corporation (ASTC) runs a Volvo bus service from Guwahati airport to Guwahati city at regular intervals (every 1 hr) at reasonable fare.
