The Lucknow International airport, which is known as Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport, is located in Amausi in Lucknow. Earlier known an Amausi airport, the airport got its present name on 17th July, 2008. The airport was granted the international status by the Union Cabinet on 3rd October, 2012.
In terms of passenger traffic, it is the second busiest airport in North India, after Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International airport. Based on the statistics garnered from traffic data from April 2010 – March 2011, the Lucknow international airport recorded passenger movement of 2,976,000 and 14,222 aircraft movement.
The Lucknow International airport has two terminals. The international terminal was inaugurated by the civil aviation minister Ajit Singh. While terminal 1 (T1) is for international passengers, terminal 2 (T2) is the domestic terminal of the airport. There is 1 entry/exit gate and 2 x-ray baggage facility for each terminal.
