Located 6.5 Km southeast from the city of Paphos, the Paphos international airport is the second largest airport in the country Cyprus. The largest airport at Cyprus is the Larnaca international airport.  The airport is very commonly used for vacation in the Western Cyprus area by the tourists. The company Hermes airports Limited took over the Larnaca airport and Paphos international airport in May of year 2006. The company took over the construction, operations and development of both the airports. It took over these airports for a period of 25 years. Paphos international airport served around 1744011 passengers in the year 2007. These statistics have been obtained from the airport operators. In November of year 2008, a new terminal got opened at the Paphos international airport. On 10 January of year 2012, Ryan air airlines announced the opening of their 50th base in the Paphos international airport. In April of year 2012, two aircrafts were placed at Paphos by them along with start up of 15 new routes which offered over 80 flights in one week. According to Ryan Air, the reason for opening up the base at Paphos was reduced landing charges which were offered by the incentive scheme of Hermes along with the fact that they could be easily operated within the standards. Currently, a new four lane road is under planning in order to link the Paphos international airport to Paphos for further passenger convenience.

How to Check-In

Checking-in at the airport at the time of flight has become very simple these days as many airlines at the airport now allow the travelers to check-in via internet from their phones and tablets.  This saves time for them to load their luggage and get it checked through the system at the time of their flight. They no longer have to wait hours before their flight at the waiting area with online check-in systems.

The airport also has manual check-in systems for the passengers. There are a total of 28 check-in desks at the airport. Check-in at the airport starts at least two hours before the flight is supposed to departure. Check-in closes one hour to 30 minutes before the departure. These are the standard check-in times but this may actually vary according to the different airlines. The passengers are advised to ensure that they check these instructions on their tickets or consult their travel agents or airline websites. Passengers can also contact the airline directly for clearing any doubts or confusions.

Web check-in is available for the passengers 48 to 3 hours before their departure and allows them to save their valuable time. The airport also offers self-check-in service which allows the passenger to obtain their boarding passes without having to queue at the counter.

Baggage and Allowance

The passengers can drop off their luggage after they have checked in. luggage can be dropped off at the bag drop off counters of the airline. The bag drop desks will be available for the passengers who have their boarding passes.
