Sun-Air was started in 1978 by Niels Sundberg who expanded his aircraft renovation and trading business into an airline company. In 1996, the Danish airline formed a franchise with British Airways which has resulted in all scheduled flights operating as British Airways with the company’s aircraft bearing the livery of British Airways. Niels Sundberg remains the airline’s CEO.

Sun-Air’s head office is located at Billund in Denmark and its main hub is Billund Airport, the second largest airport in Denmark. It operates direct flights from Billund and Aarhus in Jutland, Denmark, to several European metropolises like Brussels, Dusseldorf, Gothenburg, London, Manchester, Munich, Oslo, Stockholm and Zurich.

How to Check In

Bypass the check-in desk or airport kiosk by checking in online from the comfort of your home, office or hotel. You can check in online on under Manage My Booking – with the exception of departures from Stockholm/Bromma.Mobile check-in is also possible with Sun-Air’s new apps, available for the iPhone, BlackBerry and Android phones. Your boarding pass can also be accessed via your mobile. Check in and printing of your boarding pass can be made 24 hours before your flight (no later than 1 hour before departure).

Baggage allowance

One bag is allowed, weighing no more than 23kg. One piece of hand baggage weighing no more than 6kg is allowed. For safety reasons and cabin comfort, it may be necessary to place hand baggage in the aircraft cargo room. Hand baggage with wheels will always be placed in the cargo room.Sporting equipment will be charged as an extra piece of luggage. Firearms will be charged UK£50 each direction.Bags weighing between 24kg and 32kg will be liable to be charged a fee of UK£40. Bags heavier than that will not be accepted.

Booking Fees

If you need special assistance or have a disability, let the airline know at the time of booking. If you need to book a wheelchair or buggy, let the airline know 48 hours in advance. Medical clearance is not required for expectant mothers providing there are no complications and a medical certificate is carried between 28-36 weeks one baby and 28-32 weeks for two or more babies.

A meal is always served appropriate to the time of the day. Look forward to a hot or continental breakfast on early flights, delicious sandwiches, snacks and ice cream during the day and a full in-flight menu with ice cream for dessert and coffee later in the evening, perhaps followed by an alcoholic drink.
