In Jaipur, driving is on the left side of the road with the steering wheel on the right of the vehicle.
Traffic is daunting, with most drivers not following basic road rules.
Parking spaces are hard to find, and locals tend to park their vehicles very close to one another. Many small hotels do not have parking facilities and visitors should check with the hotels they’re staying at.
Car renting tips
As car hire is very low in Jaipur, cars may have to be dropped off at the pickup point. Visitors must check at time of booking for availability of alternate drop off points.
Procedures for returning the hired car can take a while, so ensure you reach the drop off point well in advance to the time of your departure.
Take photographs of the car while picking it up and mention any scratches, bumps or tears inside as well as outside. Local car hire companies are notorious for their hidden charges.
