• The town of Kandla, a.k.a. the Kandla Port Trust, is one of the chief and most important seaports on the western coast. Kandla lies in the scenic Kutch district of Gujarat on its southern coast, overlooking the Gulf of Kutch. Constructed as far back as the 1950s, Kandla was developed as an Indian seaport after the India-Pakistan partition left the then-major seaport of Karachi in Pakistan. Kandla lies half an hour from Gandhidham, the famous Sindh refugees' resettlement named after M.K. Gandhi.
• The domestic Kandla Airport serves the Anjar and Kandla regions of the Kutch district and is also sometimes known as Gandhidham Airport, since it is located 25 km northwest of Kandla beyond the city of Gandhidham. Kandla Airport was developed around the same time the Kandla Port Trust was set up, and Indian Airlines was the first airline to commence operations in 1960, followed by Vayudoot. Between 1999 and 2006, commercial flight activity at Kandla Airport stopped, only to resume in July 2017 on a regular basis.
• One can travel from Kandla Airport to Kandla, Anjar, Gandhidham, and the neighbouring cities via buses, taxis and autorickshaws, and a combination of all of the above.
