A small town located on the West Coast of Southern Thailand, Krabi serves as the capital of the capital of Krabi Province and Krabi District. Awesomely situated among dreadfully angular limestone karsts protruding from the mangroves, the city is situated at the mouth of Krabi River. An important city for the perspective of tourism, the city is known for is surreal natural attractions. The city is one of the oldest inhabited cities in Thailand as suggested by the various stone tools, ancient colored pictures, beads, pottery, and skeletal remains that have been recovered from the provinces many cliffs and caves. Historians believe the city to have served home to Homo sapiens since c. 25,000–35,000 BCE and it was then known as Ban Thai Samor. In 1200 CE, the city is believed to have been a tributary to the Kingdom of Ligor. Currently 52,867 live here and Thai is the official language spoken by the majority of inhabitants.

At a distance of 10 km from the city limits, 15 km from city center, the Krabi International Airport is directly connected to Bangkok, Koh Sumai, Kuala Lumpur and Singapore. Like Phuket, Krabi also experiences tropical monsoon climate and it rains for 6 months and the other 6 months are dry. The months from November to May are ideal months to explore the city as during this time the city remains dry. Rainfall occurs from June to October and humidity level is very high, thus making it uncomfortable for the tourists. Rock and Fire Festival, Chak Phra Festival in December, Krabi Boek Fa Andaman Festival in November, Krabi International Rock Climbing in April, Laanta-Lanta Festival in March, Laanta-Lanta Festival in March and Sat Duan Sip Festival in August are among the major festivals celebrated in Krabi.
Railay Beaches & Caves is the primary tourist attraction in Krabi famous for being the finest beach destination in Thailand. A rock climbing hot spot, elephant trekking, whitewater rafting, kayaking, and snorkeling cam also be enjoyed here. Diamond Cave, tourist friendly attraction is also located here. Thung Teao Forest Natural Park is an unusual lowland forest rich in bio-diversity, complete with a nature trail and a crystal lagoon. Bamboo Island, Chicken Island, Koh Poda, Koh Talu, Koh Tap & Koh Mor, Koh Hong, Koh Lanta, Koh Yao Yai & Koh Yao Noi and Phi Phi Islands are islands which are located close to Krabi.
Wat Tham Sua or 'Tiger Cave' is one of the most famous caves in Krabi famous for the maze of natural caves located in a jungle. Located near Khao Phra Bang Khram Nature Reserve Klong Thom Hot Springs ia beliedv to have healing properties. Khao Kanab Nam are two hills that are considered to be the symbol of Krabi. A river flows between them and a cave situated on the right-hand side hill is also a great attraction. Susan Ho is a historical site near Ao Nang and here tourists can see 70 million years old fossilized shells that still lie perfectly preserved, embedded in layer upon layer of shell and rock.
