Kos Island which is also known as Cos Island is a group of the Dodecanese and is located next to the Gulf of Gökova or Cos in Greece. Having a population of only 33,338, Kos Island is located at a distance of 4 km from the coast of Bodrum in Turkey. The city is sprawling on an area of 287 km2 and is located at an altitude of 0 meters. The highest elevation is 843 meters. A part of Soutj Aegean region, the Koa ton is the principal town of the island and seat of the municipality. The island has a coastline of 112 km and is located in the Aegean Sea. Some of the main villages located here are - Kardamena, Kefalos, Tingaki, Antimachia, Mastihari, Marmari, Pili, Zia, Zipari, Platani, Lagoudi and Asfendiou.

The airport is located at a distance of 22 km from the city center and is one of the most beautiful airports in the region. The region experience Mediterranean type of climate and typically has only two seasons - Cold season which begins in December and ends in March and the Hot season which lasts from April to November. Rainfall happens mostly during the warm season. The island can be visited at any time of the year. Kos has a relatively low chance of any major storms or weather hazards. Tourists are advised to plan a visit to Kos during the month of August when the popular Wine Festival is held in Mastihari area. During the month of February Greek Carnival season is celebrate here with great pomp and show. International Day of Tourism, held at the end of summer is also a major festival in Kos.

Boating of a long stretch of coastline, the main attraction of the island are its beaches. Agios Stefano beach, Tigaki beach, Thermes, Xerokambos beach, Kefalos beach, Lagada beach, Paradise Beach, Agios Fokaas beach, Marmari beach, Kardamena beach, Lambi beach, Camel beach and Mylos baeach are some of the popular beaches where tourists can enjoy underwater spots like snorkeling, scuba diving and others.

Your visit to Kos is incomplete without a visit to the ruins of Ruins of Apollo Temple in Asclepeion which is the most significant archaeological site on the island. Casa Romans is a beautiful Roman mansion known for its architectural style while the Venetian Castle of Antimachia, known for offering mystical views of the sea are also major tourist points on the island. Zia Village is a popular village on the island famous for its beauty, regional thyme honey, and housing the oldest watermill on the island. All the nature aficionados should not miss visiting the Plaka Forest, a peaceful pine tree forest that rests in a gorge that stretchs down to the sea.

Considering the fact that is a country with a long coastline, sea food forms the staple diet of the people of Kos. However, there is a lot more to the island than sea food. The people of the island pride themselves for their wine-making heritage, the history of which goes back to 500 BC. People of the island generally prefer to eat Greek food that is based on meat, fish, vegetables, olive oil and pastas, in combination with local traditional recipes. Since this is very small island, most of the places are located within walking distance and tourists don’t need to travel long distance for a hearty meal. Platonas, House of Pizza, Old River, Aylogyradiko, Karnagio and Nick the Fisherman are some of the popular restaurants where tourists can savor some of the most popular restaurants on the island, offering their own specialties.

A small island in terms of area, there are not many big malls or shopping hubs in Kos. If you are looking for brand shopping then this might not be the right place for you. This island is more suited for aid back shoppers who like ethnic and local stuff which are made with love and care. Most of the shops are located in the old part of the town and from here tourists can purchase jewellery, leather goods, perfumes and souvenirs. Bargaining is recommended. The island is also famous for its baked good along with handmade ceramics as well as exquisite hand-woven fabrics and embroideries. The ‘red cheese’ - a cheese baked in red wine is also a prized offering of Kos and tourists are highly recommended to take back home some of the top-notch cheese products from the village of Pili.
