Discover Lucknow

Because of its lengthy full name, many refer to Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in its shortened form: Lucknow Airport. It was previously called Amausi Airport before its name was changed on July 17, 2008, after the 7th Prime Minister of India. The airport is situated in Lucknow, the capital city of Uttar Pradesh state in India.

The airport is divided into two terminals, Terminal 1 for international flights and Terminal 2 for domestic flights. Carriers like Oman Air, Indian Airlines, Air India and Saudi Arabian Airlines provide direct flights to countries worldwide, while domestic airlines like Indian Airlines, Air India, Air Sahara and Jet Airways offer flights to many local cities in the country. In Terminals 1 and 2, there are various retail and food and beverage stores to cater to travellers’ needs. Wheelchairs are also available for people with mobility needs.

Getting Around

Although the airport is 20km away from the city, public transport eases the difficulty of getting there. To save the hassle of making multiple stops, travellers are advised to take a prepaid taxi directly into the city. Otherwise, you can save money by taking public transport to Lucknow Charbagh Railway Station, the nearest railway station.

In the city, auto-rickshaws are most preferred as they can be used to access most parts of Lucknow. These short cycle-rickshaw rides are a great way to explore the rapidly developing city. Taxis are also available as an alternative mode of transport. Do contact Radio Cab for reliable, fixed-meter Lucknow taxi services to get safely to your destinations. Bus services within Lucknow are also relatively inexpensive, allowing for affordable transport to places around the city. Transport by bus may take longer due to crowded roads. Avoid car rental if you are unfamiliar with local traffic conditions.

From Lucknow city, travelling to other cities in India is convenient. The railway system makes other cities in India, like Delhi, Patna, Kolkata, Mumbai and Varanasi easily accessible by train. These cities can also be reached by bus, at regular bus stops in the city. Bus services out of Lucknow city are recurrent and affordable. Bus tickets can be booked in advance at certain bus companies like Lucknow Mahanagar Parivahan Sewa (UPSRTC) with no added charge.
