A beautiful small town in Switzerland. A good place to stay in Switzerland, a quiet and scenic areas. Near to attractions points and easy to get around. Don’t waste money on hotel, bagpacker hostel is good enough!!
If you're looking to explore Switzerland's natural wonders, there is no better home-base than Interlaken. Not just a fantastic springboard to some of the most beautiful towns in country (Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen among them), Interlaken itself is a modern swiss fairy tale. Snuggled into the isthmus between two lakes (hence its name), Interlaken offers most of the amenities of a much larger swiss city (shopping, fine dining, a bit of night life) as well as all of the opportunities an adventurer could imagine for exploring the land, sea and skies of Switzerland: hike up (or take the train) Jungfrau-- a spectacular peak in the alps; take a cruise out on one of the lakes-- the water is spectacularly beautiful against the backdrop of the forests and mountains; if you're feeling very daring, you can even go on a paragliding adventure that lands you in the giant park right in the center of Interlaken. Yes, the town is a rather popular European-tourist destination, and has grown in notoriety over the years due to its prime location and stunning beauty-- but that's all relative; the volume of tourists is, overall, pretty negligible.
Interlaken is stunningly beautiful! The cute town is situated between two lakes, by the Swiss Alps. Interlaken is a total adventure town with lots to do including ice climbing, canyoning, sky diving and more! You can also travel by a glorified go-cart no less into a nearby mountain and see a waterfall that's raging inside the mountain. And don't miss visiting a chocolate factory! For $10, you'll get a tour of the chocolate factory where you can eat as much as you like! You can even make your own truffle! Then at the end of the tour, they'll give you $10 credit to spend in the store! I took home a Swiss Army Knife. :) Best $10 I've ever spent.
Interlaken is the city hub that allows you to reach various cities in the Swiss Alps. The town itself is fairly nice and has an attraction where you can ascend to a high elevation for a view of the city (it's not cheap, so I didn't do it). Pick up an info pamphlet at the tourist office for all the info you need about the Alps.
