Climate

Architecture, in the old city especially, has Indo-Islamic and Persian inspirations. You will see a lot of minarets, domes and arches. A popular attraction is the Charminar, a square structure with a minaret at each corner. The minarets give you a 360 degree view of the city.

Make sure to trudge up and look at the Golconda Fort, the former home of the Kohinoor diamond, and the Qutb Shahi tombs built and fortified during the 16th century. The Salar Jung Museum has a large collection of antiques on display from around the world. The iconic British Residency, with its large halls and high ceilings, must be on your list of to-visit sites.

For those who want take in the city quietly, stroll around the lakes and parks in Hyderabad. The Hussain Sagar Lake with its Necklace Road and Buddha statue is a good place to visit in the evenings, especially if you have kids with you. You can have a picnic with friends and take in the sunset at Osman Sagar Lake along the Musi River.

The KBR National Park in the heart of the city draws locals and tourists alike. It is pretty, lush with greenery, and well maintained. The park is also a protected location for animals and plants local to the area. Trekkers, joggers, and nature buffs will love this piece of the city.

Getting around Hyderabad

The most convenient way to travel around Hyderabad is to hire a car for the day or use fleet cabs. There is a good bus network in the city but it can get overcrowded at certain times of the day. Rickshaws, while available, do not usually run by the metre, so make sure to fix your fare before your ride begins.
