How to go to Phi Phi Island?
Well, there are two ways of taking the ferry or renting a speedboat to reach the Phi- Phi Islands. The island is around 46 km away from Phuket and Krabi. The ferry is the most prevalent method used to reach the islands. Ferries take around 120 mins from Phuket and 90 mins from Krabi or Koh Lanta. The closest airports are Phuket and Krabi.
How to go from Phuket to Phi Phi island?
You can take a direct flight to Phuket. Take a cab or local bus to reach the ferry terminal if you are travelling from Bangkok. The ferry terminal in Phuket Rassada Pier is around an hour away. This ferry terminal has longboats connecting Phuket terminal to the Tonsai Pier in Phi Phi island. Check the ferry schedule in advance so that you can make plans accordingly.

How to go from Krabi to Phi Phi island?
You can take a direct flight to Krabi. Or take a cab or bus to reach the ferry terminal from Bangkok. The main ferry pier in Krabi is the Klong Jirad Pier, that is a little south from the town. The ferry terminal is 30 min away from Krabi Airport. To get good seats, arrive before time during the peak tourist season or 30 min before departure in the slow season.
The Ferries -what to expect
The long boats that ferry tourists and locals from the Phuket to Phi-Phi are big and comfortable. The top deck of the ferry is where you can get a tan if you want to. If you aren’t a fan of tanning, then the lower decks have air-conditioned rooms with hot drinks and fresh snacks are offered aboard. You can also opt for a VIP ticket i.e. green to make the most of the comfortable middle-deck. At times, these ferries can get a little crowded. Speedboats to Phi Phi
Private motorboat transfers to the island of Phi-Phi is another popular way of getting there. It is private speed boat transfers, so the arrival and departure piers are more flexible. In a few cases, you can get a drop to your resort, saving you a lot of time.
Through most of the year, the speed boat ride is fairly easy and flat, avoid speedboats in the slow season i.e. from September to November as the seas can be a little choppy making for bumpy rides. Visit Maya Bay
Maya Bay lies in Koh Phi Phi Leh, which is the second largest island in the Phi-Phi archipelago. This bay became well-known after the movie the Beach was picturised here. With azure clear waters, white sandy beach, verdant vegetation, the Maya Bay is home to all card clichés in one place. This bay entices thousands to its shores during the peak season from November to April. Though it may feel crowded, the Maya Bay is a must-see. Another place you must not forget is the Viking Cave. It is on the northeastern side of Koh Phi Phi Leh featuring supposedly ancient paintings of what seems to be drakkars. Loh Samah Bay:
If you’d like to try snorkelling then head to the Loh Samah Bay. It is located on the southern side of the island, where you can snorkel for stunning coral and tropical fish. Longtails often anchor in the shallow waters, where swimmers can feed the fish and snorkel. Did you know there is a shortcut to get to Maya Bay? Check the small hole through a cliff about one metre high that can be seen during low tide. Another dive site you can check is the Palong Bay. It lies just outside Maya Bay towards the north. The bay is the best place if you’d like to see black-tip reef sharks and snorkel for coral formations. Do remember there are strong currents at the bay. So, make sure you don’t go snorkelling alone.
