Changchun is the capital of the Jilin province in China. It is the largest city in the province and the economic, cultural, and automobile hub. It means ‘Long Spring’ in the local language. It is also known as the Detroit of China.
Climate: Changchun has a humid continental climate and experiences four seasons. Winters are long and cold (November to March) with mean temperatures of −15.1 °C (4.8 °F). Summers are hot and humid with temperatures averaging 23.1 °C (73.6 °F). The best time to visit is spring.
Food:You can sample traditional dishes like Changbai Zhen Yan, Ginseng and Chicken Cooked with Maotai Wine, Braised Deer's Tail, Ginseng Chicken, and Steamed White Fish.

The people of the city embrace their customs and traditions and this is evident in the way they celebrate their major festivals. The Chinese New Year is celebrated in a grand manner and the streets wear a colourful look.
History and Architecture:Changchun was founded on an Imperial Decree as a small trading post during the reign of Jiajing Emperor. In 1800, Emperor Jiaqing selected a small village nestled on Yitong River and named it Changchun Ting. In 1889, the village was promoted into a city known as Changchun Fu. Between 1932 and 1945, Changchun was the capital of a Japanese puppet state Manchukuo. After Communist China's foundation in 1949, Changchun became the capital of Jilin. China’s architecture reflects its illustrious past. The Puppet Imperial Palace and Former Site of 8 Ministries are great examples of traditional architecture.

To pick up some ginseng as a souvenir for people back home, head to Changbai Road, Changjiang Road, or Huazheng Market. You can also buy marten coats at one of the many malls in the city.
Sightseeing in Changchun: The top sights of the city are Diaoshuihu Scenic Area, Relics of the Puppet Manchurian Eight Ministries, Bo Re Temple, Cultural Square, and Changchun World Sculpture Park.
