Food:The cuisine of Miami is lip-smacking and inventive in equal measure. It bears elements of Caribbean as well as Latin American cuisine. Culture:Miami has a laidback, fun vibe. It is home to the second largest Spanish speaking population in the United States of America. Hispanic influences are clearly visible in the city’s way of life. Its cultural attractions include an active music, dance, and arts festivals.
History and Architecture:It is believed that the region has been inhabited for thousands of years by indigenous tribes like the Tequestas. In 1566, after explorer Pedro Menéndez de Avilés’ visit, it was controlled by Spain and then Great Britain. It became part of the United States in 1821. It saw periods of great unrest during the Great Depression and the World War. Eventually, the railroad paved the way for its expansion. Miami is home to Modernist architecture or MiMo, a form of architecture, unique to South Florida. Fontainebleau Hotel, Eden Roc, Seacoast Towers, Deauville, and Di Lido hotels are prime examples of this minimalistic, stark, and fun style.
Shopping: Miami's Lincoln Road Mall is an open shopping mall with its promenade sprinkled with trees and art deco buildings. Feel free to indulge in some of the biggest international brands during your visit here. For designer shopping and gourmet restaurants, there’s Bal Harbour and Miracle Mile. Bayside Marketplace and Espanola Way are other entertainment hubs.
Sightseeing in Miami: The most remarkable sites of the city include Vizcaya Villa, Monastery of St. Bernard de Clairvaux, Coral Castle, Miami's Seaquarium, Jungle Island, Miami Science Museum, Miami-Dade Cultural Centre, and Miami Art Museum.
