Oman, officially called as the Sultanate of Oman is an Arab state located in southwest Asia on the southeast coast of Arabian Peninsula. The country shares its borders with United Arab Emirates in northwest, Saudi Arabia in the west and Yemen in the southwest. It also shares a marine border with Iran. The climate of Oman is hot and dry for major parts of the year. Summer begins in mid-April and last until October and is best avoided. Oman is famous for its unique water system that represents a cultural legacy and is called as ‘Falaj’.

The beach coast of Oman is perfect for enjoying various water sports like swimming, kite surfing, diving, snorkelling, sea turtle and dolphin watching. Alzaiba Beach, Al Sawadi Beach Resort, coast beyond Quriyat and beaches of Ras al Hadd, Ras Al Junayz and MasirahIsland are some of the major places. Horse and camel rides are major attractions in the desert region of Oman.

Oman cuisine is a mix of several staple Asian foods and is known for its rich & fragrant spices and herbs. Dishes are often based around chicken, fish, lamb and rice. Harees, Kahwa, Kebabs, Muqalab, Maqbous, Mashuai, Shuwa and Sakhana are some of the famous dishes one should not miss in Oman. There are many high end hotels as well as local restaurants in all the cities where tourists can savour these delicacies. Coffee is the national beverage, while tea is drunk for hospitality in Oman.
