Bhutan Airlines (officially Tashi Air Pvt. Ltd) is a subsidiary of the Tashi Group of Companies and Bhutan's first private airline. It started services in 2011 and suspended them in 2012. The airline resumed services in October 2013 with its first international flights to Thailand and India. The hub is at Paro airport, the only international airport in the country.

Currently, Bhutan Airlines operates flights to Kathmandu six days of the week (except Friday) and from Bangkok to Paro via Kolkata all seven days of the week.

Bhutan Airlines Domestic Destinations:

Bhutan’s only destination within the country is at Paro, which is also its hub.

Bhutan Airlines International Destinations:

Bhutan Airlines currently operates to 4 international destinations, Kolkata and Delhi (India), Bangkok (Thailand), and Kathmandu (Nepal). Singapore and Dhaka (Bangladesh) are expected future destinations. See here.

Bhutan Airlines has Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy Class totalling 122 seats.


Bhutan Airlines has different rules for different nationalities. Foreigners visiting Bhutan must have a valid visa clearance letter issued by the Department of Immigration of Bhutan, as well as a passport. The Initial Reference letter is not valid. Indian citizens require passport/national ID and no visa. Maldives and Bangladesh citizens require only passport, and no visa. See here.

How to Check-in

Currently, passengers travelling via Bhutan Airlines need to physically check-in at the airport, as the airline has no option for web or mobile app check-in. Check-in counters for Bhutan Airlines open 3 hours prior to departure and close 45 minutes before departure for all passengers.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

Bhutan Airlines’ checked bag allowance is – 30kg (Business Class) and 20kg (Premium Economy and Economy) for the Gaya-Paro sector, and 40kg (Business) and 30kg (Premium Economy and Economy) for other routes.
