China Southern Airlines is a Chinese airline based at Beijing Capital International Airport and Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport. The airline began operations in 1988 and went on to become one of the ‘Big 3’ Chinese airlines alongside China Eastern and Air China. China Southern is the fourth-largest airline in the world and is the largest airline in Asia according to passengers, revenue and fleet size. It is a member of the SkyTeam alliance and has a Frequent Flyer Program called the Sky Pearl Club.

Available Classes

China Southern Airlines’ fleet offers four types of cabin configurations – First Class, Business Class, Premium Economy and Economy Class. It offers First Class only in 10 Airbus A330-200s, 8 Airbus A330-300s, 5 Airbus A380-500s, Boeing 777-300ERs and Boeing 787-8s.

How to Check-in

Travellers can check-in online, via the mobile app, via SMS, self-service via the kiosks at the airport as well as the China Southern Airlines counters at the airport. Passengers usually need to check-in at least 45 minutes prior to departure. Passengers can do online check-in here using their ticket, ID or passport number and their given/family name. Passengers can also check in via the mobile app (except for flights from Guangzhou to Urumchi and Lhasa).

Baggage Allowances and Fees

Cabin baggage allowance is 5kg x 2pc (First Class) and 5kg x 1pc (Business, Premium Economy and Economy Class). Checked baggage allowance for First/Business/Premium Economy/Economy Classes are as follows – 40kg/30kg/-/20kg (Domestic), 32kg x 3pc/32kg x 2pc/23kg x 2pc/23kg x 2pc (International/Regional), 32kg x 3pc/32kg x 2pc/32kg x 1pc/32kg x 1pc (Middle/West Asia), and 32kg x 3pc/23kg x 3pc/23kg x 2pc/23kg x 1pc (Other International).
