Iran Air (also known as Homa in Persian) is Iran’s national carrier with its base operations at Tehran Airport (Tehran Mehrabad Airport – domestic, Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport – international). The airline’s subsidiary Iran Air Cargo operates cargo and charter flights. Iran Air operates across 60 global destinations including many UAE, Asian, East and West Asian, European, African, American and Southeast Asian countries.

Why fly Iran Air?

Although online ticket booking is possible, passengers cannot do web check-in for their Iran Air flights, but need to do so at the airline counter at the airport. Passengers can also check the flight status on the airline website.

Seating and seat booking

Passengers can choose seats while flight booking. Iran Air has both Economy Class and Homa Class seats available on its A300 and B747-200 airlines, and only Economy Class across the others.

Booking fees

Booking fees are applicable while booking flight tickets via credit card and debit cards, travel websites or from the airline counter at airport.

In-flight Service

Iran Air doesn’t provide in-flight entertainment on its flights. Its in-flight magazine, although in Farsi, is genuinely interesting. Larger older aircrafts have a large screen at the front but individual screens aren’t provided in the new fleet as well.

Fare classes O, M, Q have 20 kg free checked-in baggage allowance, whereas classes V, C and J have 25 kg, 30 kg and 35 kg respectively. On International flights, economy class passengers are allowed 20 kg checked-in baggage and Homa class passengers are allowed 40 kg checked-in baggage. However, baggage of passengers to US and Canada must weigh 23 kg maximum. Passengers are allowed hand baggage of 7 kg (C Class) and 5 kg (Y Class). Excess baggage attracts baggage fees, which are applicable according to the geographical zones and the number of bags. For more information and prohibited item list, passengers should check with the airline.

Iran Air is known to provide extensive and generous options for food and full meals with non-alcoholic beverages in its short domestic as well as international flights. The menu is authentic Iranian cuisine served with drinks such as Zamzam cola, Iran-produced soft drink.
