Middle Eastern Airlines

Middle Eastern Airlines – Air Liban S.A.L., otherwise known as Middle East Airlines, is Lebanon’s national flag-carrier airline headquartered in Beirut with its hub and base at Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport. Middle East Airlines operates domestic as well as international flights to Africa, the Middle East, Europe and Asia. It is a member of the IATA, the Arab Air Carriers Organization (AACO) and the SkyTeam Airline Alliance. The operations of Middle East Airlines started way back in the year 1946, and the Banque du Liban (Central Bank of Lebanon) owns 99.5% of the airline.


The fleet for Middle Eastern Airlines consists of the following – 13 Airbus A320-200s and 5 Airbus A330-200s, a total of 18 aircrafts.

Middle Eastern Airlines doesn’t fly anywhere in Lebanon except for its base at Beirut.

Middle Eastern Airlines’ International Destinations:

Middle Eastern Airlines flies to Africa, Europe and the Middle East, while Nice, Medina and Copenhagen are served seasonally. The airline also operates charter flights to Mykonos, Rhodes, Dalaman, Antalya and Sharm el-Sheikh, serving a total of 31 destinations. See here.

Available Classes

MEA features two types of travel cabins on its crafts – the Cedar Class (Business Class) and the Economy Class. The Airbus 320 has 24 seats in Cedar Class and 102 in Economy, while the Airbus 330 has 44 seats in Cedar Class and 200 in Economy.


While rules differ from country to country, travellers will need their passport and visa at the minimum.

How to Check-in

Passengers can check-in online and at the airport. Check-in opens 3 hours before and close 45 minutes to 1 hour before departure. Web check-in opens between 24 hours before and closes 3 hours before flight departure. All travellers need to do is go here and type in their flight number and e-ticket number, choose their seat/seats and confirm their preferred seats up to 24 hours prior to departure.

Baggage Allowances and Fees

The rules for all countries are different for checked baggage. Use this tool to calculate the amount of permitted baggage one can carry onboard. As for hand baggage, travellers can allowed 1 piece each whose weight doesn’t exceed 10kg and dimensions don’t exceed 115cm (56x40x25cm), and one which can be placed under the seat in the front or in the closed overhead rack. Middle Eastern allows passengers to choose preferred seats (front/back/window/centre/aisle/extra legroom) in advance and asks passengers to confirm 24 hours prior.

Booking Fees
