As it was a large natural seaport, it soon became a vital link in the trade route between the Orient, Eastern Canada and Europe. Vancouver has many modern buildings in the downtown area, including the Harbour Centre, the Vancouver Law Courts and the surrounding plaza known as Robson Square, the Vancouver Library Square and the Woodward's Building Redevelopment.
