Vueling- Fly with the pride of Europe!

Vueling Airlines is a European Airline that is headquartered in Barcelona, Spain. It is basically a low cost airline that has two main hubs; one is in Barcelona while the other is in Rome. Its name is derived from the Spanish word for flight, Vuelo. Apart from the two main bases, it has 13 other operational bases.

In total, Vueling operates flights to approximately 100 destinations situated in Africa, Asia and Europe. As of the latest rankings, it is numbered as the second biggest airline service in Spain. By the end of 2012, it was estimated that the airline carried approximately 14.8 million passengers, which was a 20.1% increase from those that it carried in 2011.

Vueling Airline service was founded in 2004 and began operating flights soon after, on 1st July 2004. Its first ever flight was from Barcelona to Ibiza. In 2005, Madrid was founded as the second main airbase for the airlines. Its first international air base was established in Paris in 2007. 2007 was a tough year for the airline service; there was not only financial insecurity, but due to varying views on commercial strategies, the top leadership was divided. This led to the subsequent resignation of two company directors and temporary suspension of public shares. In 2009, the Vueling Airlines merged with Clickair successfully to compete against other airlines in the market. In the proceeding years, Vueling established bases in France, Amsterdam, Florence and Toulouse.

Currently the Vueling fleet is known to have a total of 89 active aircrafts and amazingly, all of these aircrafts belong to the Airbus series. The average age of the entire Vueling fleet is approximately 7.5 years. Considering that most of its flight are within Europe, this is surely an impressive number.

Considering the huge level of success that the airline service has attained since it was founded, it certainly deserves all the impressive awards that it has received.

-        It was declared as the third best Regional Airlines in Europe.

-        In Barcelona at the World Aviation Summit 2013, on 27th November, it won the Regional Airline of the Year award in Amsterdam.
