If you're travelling from India to Ghana, the first step is understanding the visa requirements. Securing the right visa makes your entry into Ghana as smooth as possible. Let's explore all the necessary travel documents, visa types, and health requirements for Indian citizens visiting Ghana.
Ghana visa requirements for Indian citizens
Travellers need a visa to visit Ghana for Business or Tourism.
A Ghanaian eVisa is the fastest way of obtaining a visa. Travellers can apply online. Once approved, travellers receive their eVisa confirmation electronically.
Travellers with dual Ghanaian citizenship do not require a visa if they travel with both their Ghanaian passport and foreign passport and present both documents at immigration upon arrival and departure.
Travellers who choose to enter Ghana using only a foreign passport, without a Ghanaian passport or dual nationality card, must obtain a visa unless their foreign nationality is visa-free for Ghana. Travellers from countries that do not recognize dual nationality, including Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands, are responsible for obtaining a valid visa when travelling on their foreign passport.
Apply for a Ghana e-Visa
Travellers need a valid passport to enter Ghana. The traveller's passport must remain valid for at least 6 months after the traveller arrives in Ghana. The passport must have at least 1 blank page.
Travellers must have a confirmed itinerary and proof of accommodation bookings for the duration of their stay in Ghana.
Travellers should consider:
- Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B vaccines
- Typhoid vaccine for visits to smaller cities or rural areas
- Meningococcal vaccine for areas that are part of the meningitis belt during the dry season
- Routine vaccines including Polio and Measles.

Travellers arriving directly or transiting through all countries must have a valid Yellow Fever vaccination certificate.
Travellers must be vaccinated at least 10 days before arrival in Ghana and must provide a certificate indicating the vaccine's validity should not exceed 10 years before entering Ghana.
