Saudi Arabia visa requirements for Indian citizens

  • Visa on arrival may be available with conditions

Travellers need a visa to visit Saudi Arabia for Business or Tourism. Travellers who are permanent residents or travellers with a valid business or tourism visa issued by United Kingdom, United States, or a Schengen member state are eligible for a Visa on arrival. The visa must be valid and have been used at least once, and travellers must have an entry stamp from the issuing country. Travellers that meet these conditions can get a Visa on arrival in Saudi Arabia at the port of entry, such as an international airport or border crossing.
  • Visitor visa

Travellers need a visa to visit Saudi Arabia for Business or Tourism. A paper or embassy visa is available for travellers visiting Saudi Arabia. The visa is typically a stamp or sticker added to the passport. Travellers must obtain this visa from a local embassy, consulate, or visa center before travelling.
  • Electronic visitor visa may be available with conditions

Travellers need a visa to visit Saudi Arabia for Business or Tourism. Travellers who are permanent residents or possess a valid business or tourism visa issued by the United Kingdom, United States, or a Schengen member state are eligible for an Electronic visitor visa (eVisa) to visit Saudi Arabia. The visa issued by the United Kingdom, United States or a Schengen member state must be valid and must have an entry stamp from the issuing country. Travellers with a valid resident visa issued by one of the GCC countries with a minimum validity of at least three months beyond the date of entry into Saudi Arabia are also eligible for an Electronic visitor visa (eVisa) to visit Saudi Arabia. An eVisa is the fastest and easiest way of obtaining a visa for Saudi Arabia because travellers can submit their applications and supporting documents online. Once the application is approved, travellers receive their eVisa confirmation electronically.
The UK government is introducing a new Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) requirement for non-visa travellers starting in 2025. This system, similar to the US ESTA, will require most visitors to obtain an ETA or eVisa before travelling to the UK. The ETA is a digital permit linked to the traveller's passport, costing £10, and allows multiple entries into the UK for up to six months at a time over a two-year period.
ETA rollout schedule:
  • From January 8, 2025: All non-European nationals will need an ETA.
  • From April 2, 2025: European citizens will also require an ETA.
  • Applications: Open for non-European nationals on November 27, 2023, and for European citizens on March 5, 2025.
Who needs an ETA?
It will cover all non-European and European nationals (except British and Irish citizens).
Exemptions:
British and Irish passport holders, those with British Overseas Territories passports, existing visa holders, and individuals with permission to live, work, or study in the UK do not need to apply for an ETA.
Restrictions:
While the ETA permits stays for tourism, business, short-term studies, or visiting friends and family for up to six months, it does not allow activities like getting married, claiming benefits, residing in the country through frequent visits, or self-employed work.
